Captain Ann Holahan Date: 12/18/2007
Fishing Report for December 12th, 2007!
To All My Readers and Anglers,
Happy Holidays To You All and
Wishing You All a Safe and Healthy
New Years.
It has been just like Summer
here with a few windy days
and a couple of light cold fronts
but the fishing has been fantastic.
Especially with the East winds
the offshore boys are enjoying
the sailfishing, and marlin
fishing. Along with tuna, kingfish,
and cobia.
Winter fishing is going off like
a hitch and what a blast going on
in all areas of fishing from bonefishing,
redfish, trout, snook, lots of
sharks, and permit, and snapper,
all kind of rod benders.
What a way to start our Winter
Fishing.
The Park is exploding with alot
of snook and redfish being caught
and released and some taken back
for dinner. But, the season closes
Dec. 15th, but you can stil fish for them.
I just want to reiterate, what
I wrote previously. I am having
fun trying new gounds and working
on my own terms.
Also, I want to make perfectly
clear to all my readers and anglers
that I am no longer affiliated with
my marina. Please do not call there

here in Islamorada, Florida Keys.
I am picking up anglers at the Marina,
and am pleased too still offer that service,
but would like you just to call me directly
for all bookings for your group trips, fishing
charter packages, daily bookings, corporate
bookings, whatever you need I will assist.
Lets enjoy the beauty, fish, and most
of all the wonderful island chain we call
The Fabulous Florida Keys. I also want to let
you know I am know offering eco-tours.
You can obtain more information on
my website pertaining to the eco-tours,
and you can call me with any questions

I have been out with a rib injury for several months,
and have been honest and forthright with all my anglers
via the fishing reports and phone calls, and appreciate
all the good well wishes I have received. I just want
to thank all of you and was happy to have accomodated
each and every angler with a well reputable guide or guides.
And I assure you that I will be on the water for the month
of January, giving the go by the doctor as I am being treated
for a really bad injury, but the injury is starting to heal, and get better, and I may need your help with just a bit of assistance, but I am looking forward to seeing you all and fishing with you this upcoming month of January. I and your party will definitely will
not be far off the waters of Islamorada. I will be back
to work, and ready for my anglers to be back
on the bow of my boat searching and stalking any and all
saltwater species they would like to go for.
So, please direct all your phone calls to Capt. Ann Holahan,
at 305-664-5891, or 305-664-5793, and you can email me
directly at captann@boneranger.com, and aquaint yourself
with my website at www.boneranger.com.
We have had very Hot and Sunny Days with winds generally out
of the East, and Southeast, we have had some windy weekends
and some rain, but it has not hampered the spirits of all anglers
coming to the Keys to fish our great saltwater gamefish, but
the heat index and with the temperatures in the low 90's,
you can definitely fry an egg.
Make sure all you anglers coming to the Keys to visit and to fish,
especially for the our young visitors and fisherman, have plenty of sunblock, and lots of water and gatorade to replace those lost electrolites we loose through the extensive heat. Most
important, don't forget those hats, and breathable clothing
so you can stay as cool and comfortable as the temps rise up.
I have to say, this has been an auspicious Summer here in
the Florida Keys. I don't remember it being so hot, but
I think every season we all say it is hotter than last year.
There are still a few tarpon around the bridges and
channels, and taking some great bites on mullet, and
pilchards, and pinfish, also the tarpon around the main channels
and deep holes out in Everglades National Park, but the bite
has still been a bit sporadic, we still have a few residentials
around oceanside taking some small crabs, Doa's and had a few hits
on the Burkley Gulp shrimp.
The best tarpon bite has been still, with the bites really doing best
in the early morning and evening hours.
The water temperatures have been in the 70's to 80's,
and the fishing has been a bit difficult for the flyfisherman,
and light tackle fishing, with the wind being as calm on a daily
basis, making the bite really hard for the anglers to find
the fish at times.
Bonefishing has been spectacular this month, all over the
place on bayside and oceanside, this has been one of the
best months for those screaming reels, and elsuive bonefish,
and the bite is getting better everyday, and anglers are
catching and releasing some big fish on light tackle and
on fly, although flyfishing is tough, they have been nailing
the big ones. Also, the bonefishing has been especially in the
late afternoon, and the best bite on shrimp, our
Summer shrimp leaves alot to be desired, but quarter
size crabs or DOA crabs have presented to be a great bite
for the bonefish, but the best tip, of course on light tackle,
is the shrimp, and make sure you go when the bite has been great in the early morning and evening just before sunset.
Remember also, if you have a bonefish on don't horse the fish,
let him take the line, and make sure you put your rod in the
air as high as you can get it, or you will end up reeling against
the drag and lose the catch you long waited for.
But, the bite has certainly picked up, and we have had reports
this past week with some great catches and releases
of several sizes of bonefish.
The water in Florida Bay is still a bit green, and the bite there too
has been a bit tough. Although, you are still finding muds for
trout, jack crevelle, snapper, and sharks.
Needless to say, the fishing has been
a bit sporadic, but everyday is different
here in the Keys, on the flats and backcountry.
Lobster season is here, so please, beware of dive
flags and snorkelers when boating around the bridges
and channel ways. We do not want to have any bad diving accidents or
boat accidents occur.
The Keys were buzzing with alot of divers
and snorkelers, you would think it was a
holiday season. It was great weather, and calm
seas. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and
followed the rules and laws.
Season for lobstering opened August 1st. So,
bring your tickle sticks, and measuring devices. It
is a great way to enjoy a day on the water, and of
course, dinner.
Also, don't forget Snook season is open, it reopened
September 1st, but then closes in December until February.
I expect the snook season to be productive with some
great fights and bites whether on fly or light tackle, make sure
you get your gear and baits ready for these true bruisers and stay within the regulation limits.
Stone Crab season is also open, so don't forget to go to
your favorite restaurants and have some great crab either
hot or cold, and that will leave you wanting more.
The snook season will be closed starting May 1st, until
September 1st, but you can still catch and release those
powerful fish.
Don't forget the evening tarpon trips for the 2008 season, and
is a real experience and a great idea for those looking for some great fights, and to experience the shuttle launching
off with these beautiful fish, and what a rush to get one on fly or
live bait. Also, it gives you all a chence to see our beautiful sunsets for the wives, or girlfriends, or even for the diehard fisherman that want to duke it out with those expolsive and beautiful
fish.
Bonefishing Tournaments will start in September, October and November. So, any anglers interested in upcoming events. Please email me, or give me a call at 305-664-5891, and I will give you all the information your looking for.
I hope all my Readers and Anglers have had a Great
Time Fishing and Had Some Tight lines.
But, I want to let everyone know we all had a good time and enjoyed
having each and everyone of you all aboard our skiffs, and hope to see you all come back fishing.
Every year, I keep saying time surely does fly by and
can you believe it, Summer fishing is over, and the Fall fishing
and Winter fishing is right around the corner, and what a variety of fishing we will all have. So, please don't wait
till the last minute to get your bookings in, days do fill up, and I want to give everyone the experience and dates they would like to enjoy the fishing, and even the beautiful birds,
dolphin, and islands here in the Keys.
Don't forget to book in advance for any trips you will like
to do with the family, spouses, kids, or with your friends, we can
set you up with extra boats for bachelor parties, corporate tournaments, family get togethers, friendly fishing
tournaments, and most of all, just lots of fun with each other, and the ones you love.
It does get busy for the holiday season, and I would like everyone
to get the dates they are looking for.
I am getting alot of calls and emails about the upcoming
tarpon season for 2008, and you should definitely make
sure to be making your reservations now, so that ensures you get
the dates you want, and lock in the time frame, for those
glorious evening trips that are available.

packages I offer, and give mea call at 305-664-5891, or drop

Remember we get full fast, and it is good to start planning now, and
get a jump on the dates you have in mind, which is also good idea
for our fly anglers too. Season usually starts late March, and
April and runs through July.
Specifically again, if any anglers are interested
in some of the tournamentsthat are around, we still have
some going on, please go to my website for updated

saltwater gamefishing, and meeting new anglers and friends.
That is the time of year when the flyfisherman
and live bait anglers are battling
it out with the big fish.
It never stops to amaze me the enthusiasm my anglers show
whether it is on fly or live bait or even light tackle for
our elusive gamefish.
Patch fishing fishing should pick up immensely this Fall with the
first cold front, in which we can get out and get some snapper, grouper, hogfish, porgies, sharks, and yellowtail are being caught up on the patches of the reef.
There are many anglers here from all over the world, challenging their skills from fly to light tackle, which is wonderful
to see them enjoy and learn new skills.
Whether you challenge your skills on fly or live bait or light tackle, it is great fun to be out in the sun, and
releasing some really big fish from all the different species.
Don't forget I also offer Flyfishing Instruction, with the one to one basis, it makes the pleasure of learning the fly
fishing techniques alot of fun, and a way to challenge yourself with our saltwater gamefish.

Captain Ann Holahan Date: 5/22/2007
Fishing Report for May 22nd, 2007!
We are half way through
Spring, and it is almost
Summer.
I have to say, there has been
an unusual Spring here in
the Florida Keys.
We have had a late Spring
start, but our weather is
turning to the raining season.
We have had daily rain, much
needed, but have had windy
days, and some days not as
windy, but seems like we
will be in this pattern for
the Memorial Weekend.
The tarpon bite has been
a bit sporadic, with the
bites really doing best
in the evening hours.
I also would like to thank
my anglers who have fished
with some of my friends out
of the Marina. I have been
out with a serious rib injury,
that has put me off the water
for a few weeks, and hope to
be back to fishing in the next
few weeks.
I would also like to thank
the guides that have helped
my anglers to some great catches
and releases for their trips
to be memorable this past
week for the morning and
night trips.
With this wind the tarpon
have been hugging the
bottom in the channels
and bridges and the
bite has been reported
to be a tough one, but
have had some great tarpon
fights this past week.
The water temperatures have
been in the lower 70's to
80's and the fishing has
been a bit difficult for
the flyfisherman, and light
tackle fishing, with the
wind blowing 15-20mph daily,
and some gusts higher this
past week.
Bonefishing has been a bit
tough, especially in the
wind, and with the rain,
making sightcasting very
difficult, but between
the rain and sun,
the bite has certainly picked
up, and we have had reports
this past weekend with some
great catches and releases
of several sizes of bonefish
and tarpon.
Needless to say, the
fishing has been
a bit sporadic, but
everyday is different
here in the Keys, and
on the flats and backcountry.
The best bites have been
in the early mornings and
evening trips for those
Giant Silver Kings, and
the bite has been on mullet,
pilchards, pinfish and crabs.
The tarpon are definitely
showing up in the Flamingo area
of the Park, and the redfish
and snook have been up in
the channels and runoffs in
the Park.
Trout are still being caught
and released, along
with some ladyfish, big sharks,
jack crevelles, some really nice
mangrove snapper,
Also, don't forget snook
season will be closed starting
May 1st, until September 1st,
but you can still catch and
release those powerful fish.
Don't forget the evening tarpon
trips are a great idea for
those looking for some great
bites and beautiful sunsets
for the wives, or girlfriends,
or even for the diehard fisherman
that want to duke it out with
those expolsive and beautiful
fish.
Everytime I see one come out
of the water, it reminds me
of watching the Space Shuttle
going off. What an experience.
As I said, the bonefishing
has been fair both oceanside
and especially in the Florida
Bay. Some sizeable fish being
caught and released on
fly and light tackle.
I hope all my Readers and
Anglers have had a Great
Time Fishing and Had Some
Tight lines.
But, I want to let everyone know
we all had a good time and enjoyed
having each and everyone of you all
aboard our skiffs, and hope to see
you all come back fishing.
Every year, I keep saying
time surely does fly by and
can you believe it, Spring
fishing is almost over, and
the Summer fishing, well maybe
on its way out, if the weather
stays as nice as it has been.
I am getting alot of calls
and emails about the upcoming
tarpon season for 2008, and
you should definitely make
sure to be making your reservations
now, so that ensures you get
the dates you want, and lock
in the time frame, for those
glorious evening trips that are
available.
Don't forget to go to my website
for those great fishing charter
packages I offer, and give me
a call at 305-664-5891, or drop
me a line at captann@boneranger.com,
and I will ensure your emails
are answered promptly and correctly
with any questions you may all have.
Remember we get full fast, and it
is good to start planning now, and
get a jump on the dates you have
in mind, which is also good idea
for our fly anglers too. Season
usually starts late March, and
April and runs through July.
If any anglers are interested
in some of the tournaments
that are around, we still have
some going on, please go
to my website for updated
tournament information at
www.boneranger.com.
Some of the Spring and Summer,
and Fall Bonefish tournaments
are available, so if your interested
in any tournament information or just
coming down and getting yourself
a fix on fly or light tackle,
the Spring and Summer fishing,
it is aways a great time for
saltwater gamefishing, and meeting
new anglers and friends.
That is the time
of year when the flyfisherman
and live bait anglers are battling
it out with the big fish.
It never stops to amaze me
the enthusiasm my anglers show
whether it is on fly or live
bait or even light tackle for
our elusive gamefish.
If your fishing in Everglades
National Park, alot of anglers
catching and releasing several big
trout, jack crevelle, ladyfish,
and redfish and snook in the park,
they are using shrimp on Millie Bucktails
is the best shot with either white
hackle or brown bucktails tipped
with a little shrimp. The redfish,
and trout love that, and so do the
ladyfish.
Again, remember snook season
will be closed May, June, July,
and August. So, lets get out there
and get some of those strong snook
on board and is fun on light tackle
or fly, and you can always catch
and release.
Patch fishing fishing should pick
up immensely with snpper, grouper,
hogfish, porgies, sharks, and yellowtail
being caught up on the patches of
the reef.
The water temperature still remains in
the lower 70's, but the tides have been
good in the early morning, and in the
evenings just before sunset.
With Tarpon Season and Spring Fishing,
and Summer fishing, the Tarpon and Permit
fishing will be fantastic, using live bait mullet,
pilchards, pinfish, and crabs for the
tarpon, and for Permit fishing, using small
crab, and crab flies, jigs tipped with shrimp,
and shrimp will be the best baits.
There are many anglers here from all
over the world, challenging their skills
from fly to light tackle, which is wonderful
to see them enjoy and learn new skills.
Whether you challenge your skills on
fly or live bait or light tackle, it
is great fun to be out in the sun, and
releasing some really big fish from all
the different species.

Fishing Report for June 13th, 2006!
Well, its is Summer
here in the Keys and feels
like Summer. We have had
some great days on the
water, and I hope all my readers
and anglers have had a Great
Time Fishing and Tight Lines.
The wind has been quite calm
this past week, and with the
passing of our first Tropical
Storm, that just brushed us
with some rain, and wind, the
fishing should great along with
the bite.
The tarpon bite has been good
with quite a few fish moving South
on the Oceanside, and there
have been several catch and
releases in the Backcountry.
The live bait for tarpon
is good early in the morning,
and just before sunset on
crabs and live pinfish and
pilchards, and we have also
been using dead baits on the
bottom with successful hookups
at the channels and bridges,
along with sharks, and barracuda.
Every year, I keep saying
time surely does fly by and
can you believe it is almost
Fall, and the bonefish tournaments
start, if your interested in
tournament information or just
coming down and getting yourself
a fix on fly or light tackle,
the Fall is a great time for
bonefishing.
That is the time
of year when the flyfisherman
and live bait anglers are battling
it out with our big fish.
It never stops to amaze me
the enthusiasm my anglers show
whether it is on fly or live
bait or even light tackle for
our elusive bonefish.
Reports have been alot of anglers
catching and releasing several nice
trout, jack crevelle, ladyfish,
and redfish and some snook.
Overall, everyone had a great time and days
with fishing.
The bite has surely picked up for
the bonefish. Several schools are
being sighted now with the warmer
weather, and the fish are being
presented on fly and live bait on
light tackle.
Bridge and Channel fishing has been
good, with catches of jack crevelle,
snapper, and some snook.
Snook Season is closed May, June, July,
and August, and will reopen Sept. 1st.
Trout Season is finally open, so make
sure you enjoy a day in the backcountry
for those delicious trout, and have
a great lunch or dinner.
We have a great start to some
of this Summer Fishing Action.
Patch fishing fishing should pick
up immensely with spanish makerals coming
in, and nice schools on the patches for
bluefish also has been reported, and
porgies, grouper, hogfish, and snapper.
The water temperature still remains in
the 8's, but the tides have been
good in the early morning, and late evenings
just before sunset.
Permit fishing has been fair, using small
crab, and crab flies, jigs tipped with shrimp,
and shrimp.
There are many anglers here from all
over the world, challenging their skills
from fly to light tackle, which is wonderful
to see them enjoy and learn new skills.
Whether you challenge your skills on
fly or live bait or light tackle, it
is great fun to be out in the sun, and
releasing some really big fish from all
the different species.
You and your friends and family are
not far from the Best Saltwater Action

so make sure you take just enough for a good
lunch and dinner, and have fun with your rods

Fishing Report for March 12th, 2007!
Did you all remember to
turn your clocks ahead!
It is too early to put
the clocks ahead, and
it is not daylight until
7:30am, hope you all
get used to it soon.
We have a new fishing
report for all my anglers
and readers.
We have had a few weeks of
some winds, and a great
week of light winds.
The fishing has been
a bit sporadic, but
everyday is different
here in the Keys, and
on the flats and backcountry.
The bonefishing has been
fair, with some great
mornings of schools and
other days having to go
hunt for them, and simply
some just not there.
But, that will change with
all this warm weather we have
been having.
The tarpon are starting to
show up in the Flamingo area
of the Park, and the redfish
and snook have been up in
the channels and runoffs in
the Park.
Trout are still being caught
and some really big ones, along
with some ladyfish, big sharks,
jack crevelles, some really nice
mangrove snapper, and spanish
makeral fishing has been good.
I would like to congratulate
Jay, who was fishing with his
friend Brian, in which he caught
and released his 1st permit, it
was small, but just the same, gave
a good fight. We also caught and
released several large ladyfish,
bonnethead sharks, and unfortunately,
we couldn't land our friend Billy,
who is a huge Barracuda, weighing
in around 45-50lbs.
Also, would like to congratulate
Kate and Scott, who caught and
released their 1st bonefish, weighing
in at 5lbs, but gave the run of
her life, and was released safely to
fight and grow to bigger and better
days of fighting.
I hope all of my anglers
have been enjoying the
time on the waters,
and the Spring Breakers
are here, so we know
school is out, and we
have an early start to
Spring fishing.
As I said, the bonefishing
has been good both oceanside and
especially in the Florida
Bay. Some big fish being
caught and released on
fly and light tackle.
I hope all my Readers and
Anglers have had a Great
Time Fishing and Had Some
Tight lines.
But, I want to let everyone know
we all had a good time and enjoyed
having each and everyone of you all
aboard our skiffs, and hope to see
you all come back fishing.
Every year, I keep saying
time surely does fly by and
can you believe it, Spring
fishing is on us soon, and
the Summer fishing, well maybe
on its way out, if the weather
stays as nice as it has been.
I am getting alot of calls
and emails about the upcoming
tarpon season for 2007, and
you should definitely make
sure to be making your reservations
now, so that ensures you get
the dates you want, and lock
in the time frame, for those
glorious evening trips that are
available.
Don't forget to go to my website
for those great fishing charter
packages I offer, and give me
a call at 305-664-5891, or drop
me a line at captann@boneranger.com,
and I will ensure your emails
are answered promptly and correctly
with any questions you may all have.
Remember we get full fast, and it
is good to start planning now, and
get a jump on the dates you have
in mind, which is also good idea
for our fly anglers too. Season
usually starts late March, and
April and runs through July.
If any anglers are interested
in some of the tournaments
that are around, we still have
some going on, please go
to my website for updated
tournament information at
www.boneranger.com.
Some of the Fall Bonefish
tournaments are available, so
if your interested in
tournament information or just
coming down and getting yourself
a fix on fly or light tackle,
the Winter and Spring fishing,
it is aways a great time for
saltwater gamefishing, and meeting
new anglers and friends.
That is the time
of year when the flyfisherman
and live bait anglers are battling
it out with the big fish.
It never stops to amaze me
the enthusiasm my anglers show
whether it is on fly or live
bait or even light tackle for
our elusive gamefish.
If your fishing in Everglades
National Park, alot of anglers
catching and releasing several big
trout, jack crevelle, ladyfish,
and redfish and snook in the park,
they are using shrimp on Millie Bucktails
is the best shot with either white
hackle or brown bucktails tipped
with a little shrimp. The redfish,
and trout love that, and so do the
ladyfish.
Overall, everyone had a great time
and days some fun days filled with
alot of fishing.
January reopened the trout
season, but there have
been some big trout in Everglades
National Park.
Snook Season will reopen February 1st,
and will be closed May, June, July,
and August. So, lets get out there
and get some of those strong snook
on board and is fun on light tackle.
Patch fishing fishing should pick
up immensely with snpper, grouper,
porgies, sharks, and yellowtail
being caught up on the patches of
the reef with this cooler water
coming in.
The water temperature still remains in
the lower 70's, but the tides have been
good in the early morning, and early
evenings just before sunset.
With Tarpon Season and Spring Fishing,
The Tarpon and Permit fishing will be
fantastic, using live bait mullet,
pilchards, pinfish, and crabs for the
tarpon, and for Permit fishing, using small
crab, and crab flies, jigs tipped with shrimp,
and shrimp will be the best baits.
There are many anglers here from all
over the world, challenging their skills
from fly to light tackle, which is wonderful
to see them enjoy and learn new skills.
Whether you challenge your skills on
fly or live bait or light tackle, it
is great fun to be out in the sun, and
releasing some really big fish from all
the different species.
You and your friends and family are
not far from the Best Saltwater Action
around!
Remember the snapper that you catch, has limits,
so make sure you take just enough for a good
lunch and dinner, and have fun with your rods
bending on the rest.

Fishing Report for January 18th, 2007!
I hope all of my anglers
have been enjoying the
Holidays, and what a warm
start to the Winter Fishing.
I mean warm, we have had a
few cool days, but it has
been a warm winter, with
some great fishing.
It can only get better
and better, and if old
man winter has been this
predictable, I can only
wonder what the rest of the
month will be like.
There has been quite a
few windy days, but the
wind has laid off nice
this past week, and have
had some great reports
fishing offshore, and
flats and backcountry
fishing.
The bonefishing has been
good both oceanside and
especially in the Florida
Bay. Some big fish being
caught and released on
fly and light tackle.
Bonefish ranging from 9lbs
and up, you cannot ask
for a great day on the water
with them being in the Fall
Pattern still.
Redfishing has been quite
consisitent over in Flamingo
and in the channels, and area
lake and rivers.
Trout fishing has been super
with some big trout being
caught and released because
of the limit in size, but
have been quite a few going
to the restaurants for lunch
too.
Backcountry fishing has also
produced some spanish makerals,
and pompano have been on the
hooks of many anglers,
snook have been quite abundant,
and trout, ladyfish, and jack
crevelle, along with mangrove
snapper, sharks, and I have
even heard, tarpon are still
in the back getting caught
on some light tackle and fly!
This has been some great fishing.
I hope all my Readers and
Anglers have had a Great
Time Fishing and Had Some
Tight lines.
As I said, the fishing has been good,
with the bite for the bonefish has been
good, and has been good in the early
mornings, and of course, just before sunset.
But, I want to let everyone know
we all had a good time and enjoyed
having each and everyone of you all
aboard our skiffs, and hope to see
you all come back fishing.
The tarpon bite has shown up
again, and some fish are still around
the area bridges and channels,
and they are finding some still
in the Park.
Using crabs, and dead bait is
the best early in the morning
hours, and pilchards are being
used for some evening trips.
Every year, I keep saying

So, lets make sure that you get your plans
in order!
Stalking these Gray Ghosts, or Poling for those
Powerful Permit, or Preying on those Giant
Silver Kings, you have to use a bit of muscle,
but the hand and eye coordination on fly is
a fantastic challenge for any kind of angler.
Or just exciting on Live Bait for the same
species on 6lb or 8lb test, what an adrenaline
rush.
Even if your a novice or intermediate flycaster, I do
offer fly instruction, I know it can be a bit trying
on the nerves, but once you learn the technique,
and you hook up the adrenaline takes over, and your
knees start shaking, and the thrill of the line
zipping out in less than a minute. It is a true rush.
I cannot describe the feeling, until you actually
hook up. But, let me tell you, that it is one of
the most fasinating, and intriging experiences
you could ever have, whether on fly or light tackle,
it will have your heart racing, and have a lump
in your throat, and a smile on your face, when
you hook up! There is no screaming, just your
elated face and excitement watching you have the
hook up of your life.
Winter and Spring Tournament Fishing will be
getting active, with some Big Fish that will be Caught,
and Released. If any of you anglers are interested in
